The challenge: who has access to which locations?
Many access points within large organizations, such as technical rooms, storage areas, and terminals, are equipped with cylinders and keys. These locations are often not suitable for a physically wired access control system, for example, because network cabling is not possible. Therefore, these access points are often equipped with digital cylinders, usually battery-free, which work offline.
Although this solution offers flexibility, you also want to manage all these access rights centrally within the same access control system. This is where our identity management platform YIM comes into play. Our platform ensures that digital cylinders are also part of one centrally managed and secure system.
The solution: smart self-service station
Our self-service station combines ease of use with advanced technology. The YIM platform manages all access rights, linked to your HR system and digital cylinders from manufacturers such as iLOQ or ASSA ABLOY. Employees easily check in at the station, where YIM verifies if they are authorized. Keys are authorized for specific tasks and times, minimizing misuse.
How does the self-service station work?
- Central management via YIM: Register, verify, and easily manage roles, requirements, and access rights for employees, suppliers, and visitors within the platform. Access rights are automatically linked to HR data.
- Check-in and verification: Individuals check in at the self-service station. They present their access card. YIM verifies the employment status and permissions.
- Individual authorization: If the check-in is approved, the person is asked to present the key. The key is then temporarily activated for specific access and working hours.
- Logging and reporting: All key movements are recorded for maximum control and compliance with regulations.
- Check-out: At the end of the shift, the person presents the key again at the station, along with identification via the access card. The key is cleared of its daily access rights.
