Innovative Custom Access Control for Allseas
Controlled Access to the World’s Largest Work Vessel

Allseas is an international leader in large, complex, and technologically advanced offshore projects. To meet the demands of its office in Delft, the new shipyard in Heiningen, and multiple European locations, Allseas required a uniform access management solution. Additionally, the company sought a flexible system for controlling access to its flagship, the Pioneering Spirit—the world’s largest work vessel—and for managing contractors efficiently.
Ensuring Safe Work Through Smart Integration of Access Control and ERP
The outdated access control system in Delft was unsuitable for expansion to the new Heiningen shipyard, where up to 100 contractors work daily. During the search for a robust foundation for its access policy, several key questions arose:
- ERP Integration: Can the access system connect to our ERP for time registration?
- Contractor Management: How can (sub)contractors be registered quickly and checked for necessary certifications?
- Uniformity: Can this solution be scaled to locations in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Belgium?
A Long-Term Security Partner
Arjen van den Brink, Vessel Coordinator at Allseas, explains:
“Our systems no longer met our needs, and new functionalities were essential, particularly given the constantly evolving regulations. In addition to replacing our systems, we required integration and synergy between onshore and offshore locations. The solution had to be flexible, uniform, and future-proof. We also sought a partner with expertise who could support us as a long-term security provider.”
Nsecure was one of the selected companies to present a proposal for this complex challenge.
A Solid Foundation for the Future
After evaluating Nsecure’s technical expertise, methodology, and experience, Allseas selected Nsecure. The solution combined the AEOS access control system with the Dataclient workflow and identity service to manage the registration and accreditation of contractors and visitors. Key features included:
- Integration with Allseas’ ERP system for seamless time registration.
- Compliance with safety, uniformity, and regulatory requirements.
The solution has been successfully rolled out across multiple Allseas locations, delivering measurable benefits:
- Faster and safer registration, authorization, and accreditation processes.
- Reduced errors and administrative time due to integrated systems and protocols.
- A strong foundation aligned with Allseas’ vision and future ambitions.

The Pioneering Spirit: Access Control for the World’s Largest Work Vessel
In addition to solving access challenges at its onshore locations, Allseas tasked Nsecure with creating a flexible access solution for the Pioneering Spirit, a vessel measuring 382 meters in length and 124 meters in width—comparable to eight football fields. The ship is deployed globally for tasks like decommissioning oil and gas platforms and laying pipelines. When docked for maintenance or project preparations, managing large-scale, controlled access flows is critical.
Plug & Play Access Control with Custom Sea Containers
Previously, Allseas relied on temporary rental solutions to manage contractor access. Nsecure proposed a plug & play system housed in two custom-built sea containers. These containers, designed for worldwide deployment, integrate seamlessly with AEOS and operate 24/7.
Features of the solution include:
- Turnstiles for controlled access.
- One container equipped with a security booth and passport scanner.
- Custom modifications such as air conditioning and adjustable lighting.
“This flexible, plug & play system has been widely praised in the industry for use during maintenance shutdowns and revisions. It has already been deployed multiple times, streamlining the registration process for contractors and employees. Nsecure’s solution has proven its worth, enabling fast and efficient visitor management through its flexibility,” says Van den Brink.
